The library building was planned to build it in phases, so as a building consisting of two bodies placed side by side and joined by a central glass corridor U shaped to ensure visual continuity between the two buildings.
In the first phase of the Library for program proposes, the space as large as possible should be to the reading rooms and minimize entrances, lobbies and services, which could be doubled in the second phase.
At the time when we carried out the second phase, the needs of the UPC had changed and the location of growth areas of campus as well.
Thus, the second phase was not as it was planned but was placed next to the first, in the back, in order to get a single reading room. In addition, there were some changes in the existing building.
The third phase has not yet begun.
We adapt the building to client demands with the different phases, which change according to what was expected over time. We made necessary adjustments in the building to offset changes, such as the addition of sunscreen slats in the glass when originally was the second body of the building what protected from the sun.
